| Description: | Most people from Tyler Texas probably remember that restaurant, "Mansion On The Hill" on Old Henderson Hwy on the corner of Hwy 64 East. It never seemed to get enough business but the facility was amazing and the food was pretty good. Well that place just couldn't stay in business. A new place has moved in and I ate their yesterday and I must say that it is on par as being one of the very best restaurants in Tyler Texas. The parking lot was completely packed and I had to wait for someone to leave to park just to get in. Once inside you will be shocked by how nice the interior of the mansion has been constructed and decorated. The old chandliers, the floors, walls, columns, wood ceilings, outdoor patio, bar lounge area, and probably many more things I just didn't notice are done perfectly. The food cooked is basically mexican food but not very hot and spicy. It's like a gourmet mexican food restaurant without the high prices. They cook their steaks like Argentinians and only use US Prime Beef. My wife had the prime rib and I had the Carne Asada and we both agreed it was the best of both we had ever had. My mom had the chicken enchilidas and she grew up in New Mexico which is the Tex-Mex heartland and said, "these enchilidas are the best in Tyler." My dad had the cheese enchiladas and he went on about how good the rice and enchiladas were and had extra helpings of the salsa. I would agree that the chips and salsa were also fantastic and the attention to detail on both the presentation of the food and the quality was exceptional. This restaurant would probably be rated at 4 stars if it was given a review. After dinner we had their bread pudding and bananna creme brule and both of these were the best I had ever had with a very pleasing presentation. The sauces and fruit that garnished both deserts was not only fun to look at but tasted amazing! I think you will be hooked if you go here and if you are like me you may never return to Mercado's or On The Border again.
