Downtown Tyler Texas

Downtown Tyler success
Downtown Tyler has gone through several changes in the last 10 years and what we have noticed is it isn’t the easiest place to stay in business. Several businesses have come and gone and real estate developers have tried very hard to create a welcoming atmosphere to apartment and condo renters. One problem is that not many people work downtown and many would be renters don’t like the idea of working in South Tyler and renting an apartment in downtown.
A few businesses have survived and appear to be doing quite well. Don Juan’s opened a 2nd location on the square and has been doing so well you will find that the 2nd story of the restaraunt is just as packed as the bottom story on the weekends and during lunch on the weekdays. The suck in most of the court room and legal staff during lunch hours. It is even trendy to many of the highschoolers.
There is a real estate development right past the rail road tracks that never caught on but still shows for rent signs. You will also see a few buildings right off of broadway with windows showing nothing in them. Several businesses have moved out of this area of town and when new businesses will take there place is still not for sure.
A positive about downtown Tyler is its “car row”. On Erwin and a few other streets you will find engine shops, body repair shops, parts stores, transmission repair mechanics and similar trades related to the automobile industry. Recently a auto body jobber opened up on car row and is doing quite well. He receives a lot of referral business from other auto parts stores sending the do it yourselfers to get the needed auto body repair items here. Unfortunately the name of this place escapes me but it is loaded with the right supplies to do the job.
