Anchorwoman | Tyler Texas

21 08 2007

The new TV show Anchorwoman starts tomorrow: Wednesday, Aug. 22 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)
7:00 pm CST Tyler Texas time

A TV entrepreneur “Phil Hurley” who owns a low budget Texas news station named KYTX Channel 19 is desperate to gain ratings over the current ratings giant. What he does is shock the bible believing Southern Baptist town of Tyler Texas right in the heart of the bible belt by bringing in a gorgeous model and ex-WWE diva with absolutely no news room experience to be the Anchorwoman on his news show. He wants to bump up his 6 share rating to close to his competitor;s 36 share TV rating.

LAUREN JONES is former Miss New York and decides to pack up her designer clothes and move to Tyler, Texas, to start her Anchorwoman job. Will she really be able to pull off this news job? Many believe she will make the station a laughing stock but some are not quite sure. Lauren believes she isn’t an airhead and will do anything to prove it to the bible belt country public she has little in common with.

The news staff see Phil’s new hire as a big mistake. The raigning anchor Annalisa Petraglia is working hard to make sure this girl does not take her job. Lauren has a lot to deal with with an unsupportive staff and a town she knows nothing about.

How will it all turn out? Only the ratings will tell, so stay tuned for the next ANCHORWOMAN: Lauren Jones.

ANCHORWOMAN is created and executive-produced by Brian Gadinsky (“American Idol,” “Mr. Personality,” “America’s Most Wanted”).

ANCHORWOMAN premieres with a special one-hour episode Wednesday, Aug. 22 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The series begins airing in its regular time period Wednesday, Aug. 29 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT). A comedy/reality hybrid, ANCHORWOMAN follows the trials and tribulations of buxom blonde Lauren Jones as she sets out to transform herself from swimsuit model to hard-hitting news anchor for KYTX Channel 19 in Tyler. Jones makes her live debut as KYTX’s newest anchor on its 5:00 PM newscast next Monday, June 11.

    Fox’s ‘Anchorwoman’ sinks

Fox’s unscripted program “Anchorwoman” could be headed for an early sign-off after anemic opening-night ratings results Wednesday.
According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, the comedy-reality series “Anchorwoman” — which chronicles the travails of a former “WWE Diva” who becomes a news anchor in small-market Tyler, Texas — averaged a 1.0 rating/3 share in adults 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall from 8 to 9 o’clock. This is less than half the number put up in the time period by unscripted fare on CBS and NBC, and about one-third what Fox was generating a week earlier with the conclusion of its hit “So You Think You Can Dance.”

“Anchorwoman” was designed as a limited-run series, so Fox may stick with it for its remaining three weeks — although it wouldn’t be surprising if it simply pulled the plug.

I heard the show was pulled already. Why didn’t FOX leave it on for the three weeks and see if it gained more viewers? Also, just maybe if FOX hyped this show up as much as their other reality shows it might have gotten a bigger audience. I thought it was very funny and so did friends at work after I told them about it. I also had them view some clips that were on the website and they said they would watch it next time it airs. Well, now they can’t because it was pulled. Tell FOX to put it back on and “advertise it” more.

Yes it is true, Fox pulled the plug on the show after one showing. I wish they would have left on longer too. I think it is a funny concept.
