The Conan O’Brien show is seen by millions of viewers each night. Eisley, a local band here in Tyler Texas got the awesome chance to play a set on the show. For those who don’t know, Conan is watched by teens and comedy fans who would rather pass on Jay Leno, and David Letterman as Conan is seen as a little more edgy or loony depending on who you talk to.

I watched the performance on the internet and I think they did real well. I remember going to Brewtones which is a little coffee house band venue in the Vineyard Church here in Tyler. They were the music ministers children at the time and were not yet a band. The oldest girl did seem musically inclined from what I could tell and had recently received an electric guitar from a grandparent. The rest appears to be history. They had some initial inspiration from some christian bands that would come into Brewtones to play for the Tylerite Christian music fans. Miss Angie was a band that some of the girls often referred to and looked up to before they formed their now very succesfull band, Eisley.
My brothers and I would take a yearly trip to Bushnell Illinois to see the bands at the Cornerstone music festival. Eisley gained a decent following by playing at the festival a few years in a row. They had the coolest retro school bus they traveled in painted in white and sold their music on regular old burned cd’s. I was so happy to see some fellow Tyler people make it to Cornerstone and to now see them on Conan, well I just had to write about it and them. Their dad is very supportive of them and so is their mom. Their dad is a graphics artist and I am sure he used some of his handywork in the marketing of the band. As I remember it their mom is the music minister at the Vineyard Church in Tyler and does a very good job. It’s easy to tell they probably get a good bit of their talent from the creative genes and influence of their parents.
If you notice they all dress very modest and the lyrics are not evil (drugs, sex, violence). So far they seem to be the exception to the rule and if I were to bet I believe they will stay that way. There are several succesfull bands that keep their morals and I believe Eisley if one of them. This is just a hunch on my part and maybe I just have a little sentimentality to my neighbors here in Tyler but I think they will do alright. I hope they don’t get too famous where they are dodging paperazzi and weirdos. If they ever have any weirdos stalking them we have a few big burly men that are their friends and I know some of these guys. These Texas good ole’ boys don’t waiste any time and will stomp on any freaks in short order.
